This tour takes you to Besakih Temple at the foot of Mouth Agung, through rice field terraces an on to Bali’s scenic East Coast. Frist stop is Kerta Gosa, the Hall of Justice, in Klungkung, which dates from the 18th century. Interesting classical paintings can be viewed on the ceiling, potraying visions of heaven and hell.

Continue up into the mountains, stopping to admire the view from Bukit Jambul over rice terraces with the sea glistening in the distance. Then it’s on to Besakih Temple, almost 1.000 m above sea level. Besakih is the “Mother Temple” of Bali and probably originated as a prehistoric sanctuary where offerings were made to the God of Mount Agung. The complex houses 30 temples made up of 7 levels of terraces in the mountainside. A stop is made for lunch (not include in tour price) at Bukit Jambul.

Back at sea level, visit Tenganan – one of the original Bali “Aga” villages where traditions have changes little over the centuries. Drive through the beach resort of Cando Dasa to Kusamba, a fishing village where fishing and salt panning are still the villagers main livelihood. See the black sand beaches and look out colorfully painted outrigger canoes.

Your final stop is at eerie Goa Lawah (Bat Cave) where the walls of the cave literally vibrate with thousands of bats. The cave is considered to be holy, with shrines and a temple protecting the entrance.

If you plan to take only one tour during your holiday in Bali, this tour is a perfect introduction to Bali’s fascinating culture and handicrafts, offering picturesque rice fields and villages, and the spectacular lake and volcano as a highlight.

First stop is the stone carving village of Batubulan to see the colorful and exciting Barong Dance. After the performance, drive through the Balinese countryside to Mas, a village famous for its impressive woodcarvings. A stop is made at one of the many wood carving “factories” where you can see artisans chipping intricate designs from blocks of wood. Next visit is to the mysterious Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave), which dates back to the 11th century. Hewn out of the rocks, the cave entrance is fantastically carved and depicts entangled leaves, animals, ocean waves and demonic human shapes.

Your route takes you further inland through terraced rice field and up into the mountains, where the vegetation changes from small rice and vegetables plots to bamboo forests clove and citrus fruit trees. There will also be a visit to local village enroute during the day.

On arrival at Kintamani, enjoy spectacular views of Mt. Batur, with ribbons of black lava running down from it’s peak in the valley below. The crater is holy and a sanctuary at the top is dedicated to the fertility goddess. Next to Mt. Batur, Lake Batur shimmers like a sheet of blue glass – a wonderful photographic opportunity. A stop is made for lunch (not included) at Kintamani

The route back to your Hotel takes you to one Bali’s Holy Springs. The waters are believed to have magic curative powers and people journey from all over Bali to purify themselves in the clear bathing pools.
In Ubud, the artistic heart of Bali, visit one of the many art galleries and catch the artists at work. Last stop is the village of Celuk, famous for it’s gold and silver work. You can watch skilled artisans creting exquisite pieces from gold and silver.

Tranquil rural countryside awaits you as you traverse the whole width of Bali, to Singaraja and Lovina Beach on the North Coast.

Leave the relatively flat rice fields behind and climb higher to see tiny rice plots on steep mountainside terraces. Stop at Pacung to enjoy the spectacular surrounding view. In the mountains, vegetation changes and you’ll see cabbages, maize and potatoes. Higher still, the countryside is alpine with mosses, creepers and ferns. Visit Candi Kuning fruit and flower market with it’s exotic wild orchids, roses and even strawberries!

Next stop is Bedugul – an attractive mountain resort located 850 m above sea level. Serene Lake Beratan fills the ancient crater of Mount Batukaru and the local people honor the Goddess of the waters, Dewi Danu. The delightful small temple of Ulun Danu dedicated to this Goddess, is built on a small promontory on the lake.

Continue north past the Bali Handara Golf Club, which enjoys a spectacular surrounding view of lakes, well – kept gardens, wild flowers and wooded mountainsides. Stop for a walk through jungle to see Gitgit Waterfall before going on to the town of Singaraja, on the north coast of Bali. Enroute along the coast of Lovina is a fabulous black sand beach. A stop will be made for lunch (not include in tour price) at Lovina Beach.

The return trip takes you along a different and little use road via Pupuan, through coffee plantations and spectacularly terraced rice fields.

Journey into the countryside and make a stop to take a short walk (approx. 300 meters) through scenic terraced rice fields. Cultivated in the unique Balinese style, surrounded by coconut trees, tropical scenery and the gentle flow of the river will introduce you to the magical Balinese culture. At the end of your stroll, relax in a Balinese pavilion and sample traditional Indonesian fried tapioca and sweet potato together with mineral water, tea or coffee.

After leaving the village of Gulingan we will drive along the Royal Temple of Mengwi – Pura Taman Ayun. Dating from 1634, this picturesque temple complex surrounded by a moat, with multi-roofed MERU shrines and intricately carved wooden gates.

We then proceed to the scared Monkey Forest, a cluster of towering trees that is home to hundreds of monkeys.
Last stop is Tanah Lot, famous in Bali as the Sunset Temple. Experience the sunset beyond the black lava towers of the sacred 16th century temple, built on a black lava rock 200 meters off shore. Tide conditions permitting, you can walk across the beach to the temple.
